Sister M. Adelaide Molinari, FDC
Died for the cause of justice
Maraba - Brazil, 14th April 1985

(From the local chronicle in Marabá)
16th April, 1985
The community assembled around the symbol of Sister, her blood-stained
dress … it was decided that the shirt she wore will not be washed
but preserved as was following her death. With tears in our eyes we prayed
…
22nd April, 1985
In the afternoon we went to km 02 (Eldorado) where the Eucharist was celebrated
with the participation of the people of that locality. Then, in procession,
taking a cross with the name, Sister Adelaide, written on it, we went
to the spot where she had been shot; there was a climate of emotion. Prayers,
readings and hymns followed repeating the refrain, "No one has a
greater love than who gives it for his brothers!" On the exact spot
where she fell, there was the design of a heart made of flowers. In the
centre of the heart were these words: "Sister Adelaide, our longing
is and will be eternal!" All left their candles there. The cross,
with the name, Sister Adelaide, was placed at the wall, in front of the
place where she received the deadly blow.
22nd May, 1985
In the evening of the 30th day there was a celebration at km 30; a significant
procession; we offered Sister's ring and emblem, a sign of her dedication
to the Kingdom of God and the Congregation of the Daughters of Divine
Charity; the mothers offered dry brancheswith leaves at a distance of
each other, signifying that thus had been their community prior to the
arrival of Sisters Adelaide and the Sisters. Also a green bouquet of branches
was offered, sign of the community's life today woth all its vitality
and organization; then, a lit candle, sign of Sister's life.
